WHO THE HECK IS THIS?
okay okay, you might be wondering why the hell is her picture doing in my blog, looking at u frm an awkward angle with a wierd look on her face.. So let me introduce her:
Lieutenant Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski, is a retired U.S. Air Force officer whose assignments included work as a Pentagon desk officer and in a variety of roles for the National Security Agency.(NESA) Since retiring, she has become a noted critic of the U.S. government's involvement in Iraq.
Colonel Kwiatkowski is primarily noted for openly and publicly denouncing what she sees as a corrupting political influence on the course of military intelligence leading up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
In the latter piece, titled "The New Pentagon Papers", she wrote:
"I witnessed neoconservative agenda bearers within OSP usurp measured and carefully considered assessments, and through suppression and distortion of intelligence information promulgate what were in fact falsehoods to both Congress and the executive office of the president."
Kwiatkowski exposed how a clique of officers led by retired Navy Captain Bill Luti, assistant secretary of defense, and former aid of Dick Cheney when the later was Secretary of Defense, took control of the military intelligence, and how the "Office of Special Plans" (OSP) grew and eventually turned into a censorship and disinformation organism controlling the NESA.
Following the American Conservative and Salon articles, Kwiatkowski began to receive criticism from several conservative sources that supported President Bush's policies. (unsurprisingly)
A particular comment by her interested me:
"I came to share with many NESA colleagues a kind of unease, a sense that something was awry. What seemed out of place was the strong and open pro-Israel and anti-Arab orientation in an ostensibly apolitical policy-generation staff within the Pentagon."
Compare that agitation with these recent snippets of news, as of 20/12/2004:
An attack on a United States military base in Mosul leaves 15 dead and at least 55 injured, marking the greatest number of casualties in a single strike on the U.S.-led coalition since the start of the war.- taken from Associated Press news.
(further justification for the continuation of the battle against the non-existant saddam terrorist threat innit?)
How bout this?
U.S. President George W Bush is named "Person of the Year" by TIME magazine. -Time, December issue 2004.
One person would certainly be turning in his grave upon hearing the line above.
the Che in happier times
Che Guevara, the revolutionary right hand aide of Fidel Castro in the struggle for Cuba rejected a comfortable bourgeois background to fight for those who were deprived of political power and economic stability.
And when he gained power in Cuba, he gave up all the trappings of privilege and power in Cuba in order to return to the revolutionary battlefield, fighting for the Bolivian Communists against the capitalist rule of President Rene Barrientos and ultimately, to die.
Oh, And that happened in the hands of the American CIA ,in which CIA operatives were sent into Bolivia to aid the anti-insurrection effort, where the pro-Barrientos Bolivian Army was being trained by
U.S. Army Special Forces advisors, to "smoke 'em out".
And smoke the poor fella out they did.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ALL THIS INFORMATION , U MIGHT THINK?
I mean, why should we care bout world affairs right, cause we're living here in sunny Singapore which is really really safe u know, its like, forget those things lah we're far away frm those tempestous problems so thus we don't need to care and only need to snuggle up to our babes , decked in cute mesh caps and all, flashin our bling blings y'know ma homie?
